This is very easy to install, the screwdrivers are much needed.. I thought the case uses philips but it has these 5 corner screws. The absolute best thing is the Catalina OS already preloaded and formatted APFS, like you just bought the laptop new. This saves time trying to do "internet recovery" or USB boot install, they are not difficult but they can get somewhat technical and slow to do. They also include Big Sur on a USB, but most would just go straight to Monterey. All it took boot up, download Monterey, wait for the download and install. Now, if this SSD doesn't break quickly it will (original one lasted about 9 years). Before my original HD failed, the OS and chrome ran very slow for a few days, I didn't know it was a sign of the HD dying, one day I just saw the awful folder icon with exclamation, the partition went bad and I lost it.It does cost over a hundred for this, when a whole used same MBP laptop is just under a few hundred. It's hard to say, these things wear like battery, keyboard, logic board, and HDD. Buying a used one might eventually need new parts as well.
