had to replace smashed trackpad. i cheated for install…it’s the same as ifixit except you just unscrew the trackpad, unplug the cable and swap trackpads. mind the little washers. the fiddly part is getting the cable out of and back into the trackpad. the cable will stretch a little over the battery but not a lot. you can use a plastic pick to flip up the cable lock and the same to put it back. use your fingers and a loupe or readers and partially plug in the cable to the new trackpad with careful light pressure then use some plastic tweezers to work the cable in the rest of the way. note exactly how far the cable is in the original trackpad before taking it apart. i didn’t want to risk breaking something else taking the mobo out but that’s always plan b.works and feels exactly like the oem one used to. good luck and dog speed.
